We’re excited to announce the official launch of the ROMchip Freelancer Fund, a new initiative to support independent writers, citizen historians, and game preservationists who want to publish original work with us.
ROMchip is committed to expanding who gets to write game history—not just academic professionals, but also the many brilliant people doing the work from outside traditional institutions. The Freelancer Fund helps make that possible by paying contributors for pieces published in our Interviews, Materials, and Translations sections. This year’s fund will operate on a rolling basis. Writers can pitch us any time, and we’ll support as many pieces as our budget allows. Once funds are tapped for 2025, we’ll note it on our site. Full details here: Interested in pitching? We’re accepting work that:
Thanks to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts and helped make this possible. We can’t wait to see what you bring us. Game on, Laine and the ROMchip Editorial Group (Soraya, Henry, Dave, and Logan)
